About
I have always loved people, ministry, creativity, and Jesus.
I have also always struggled with high-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, fear, and control.
Hi, my name is Emily, and I'm both imperfect and deeply loved by God, just like you.
I'm glad you've made it here. It's not easy taking the first steps towards getting help.
I know this from my own experience with anxiety and OCD.
Admitting I needed help was humbling. Being vulnerable about my struggles with others was scary. Letting go of who I thought I should be was painful.
Yet here I am and here you are. Taking that first step led me to where I am today: walking with other imperfect humans in their journey.
I believe that counseling is a collaborative process. Not only between you and I, but with the leading, guidance, and direction of the Holy Spirit.
I also believe that counseling involves the whole person: body, mind, and soul.
The body shows physical symptoms from mental pain, such as chest tightness, racing heartbeat, muscle tension, sleep issues, etc.
The mind involves automatic negative thoughts, core beliefs, and unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to mental pain.
The soul encompasses deep needs, dreams, and the longing to know our Creator, which gives us a framework to journey through mental pain.
I believe in honoring the body, mind, and soul in a safe, non-judgmental space.
I also believe that you are uniquely created by God and that there is not a “one size fits all” magic formula for healing.
Let’s listen to your body, mind, and soul together.
A little more about me: I have a bachelor's degree in Ministry Leadership from Northwest University and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling from Messiah University.
I have worked as a missionary, youth pastor, professional photographer, and college professor.
I am also blessed to be a mother and a wife.
My favorite scripture is Romans 8:38-39: For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (ESV).
